Why I Keep Going Back to Scotland

Yo, what is up my dudes?!

Grab a beverage or whatever and listen to me ramble about a place that's (not surprisingly if you’ve read my blog or seen my instagram) had my heart for years: Scotland.

Every time I land in Scotland, it’s like coming back to an old house. You know, when you go visit your childhood home but haven’t lived there in ages? Let’s be clear, I have never lived in Scotland (I WISH), but it’s cozy, familiar, and always a good time.

I've flown over to Scotland at least once a year for the past five years or so. And guess what? I've got three more trips lined up. My bank account is definitely preparing to place a multi-generational blood curse on me, but hey, the heart wants what it wants!

First off, the views in Scotland? Out of this world. Take the Isle of Skye, for example. I explored there with one of my best friends in 2021, and it was incredible. When we were in Edinburgh (her first time), watching her eyes light up at the sights was so cool, to see her experience the same wonder I did. Every corner feels like it’s straight out of a book.

And the people? Super friendly and always ready for a chat, if you’re interested. Of course, depending on where you are, it varies (like any other place in the world). It could be about their cute dog, which local pub is the best, or even just laughing about being soaked by the rain that popped up out of nowhere. They make you feel like you're welcome.

Then of course there’s the name thing. I mean, with a last name like Lindsay, it feels like Scotland and I are sort of... related? I had ancestors there, and every dance, song, and old tale feels like a little piece of my own history.

So while I'm juggling work and dreaming of my next Scottish adventure (it’s literally in January, calm down, self), I keep finding reasons to go back. If you ever head that way and spot someone with a camera, laughing as she tries to snap a pic of a highland coo, come say hi!

Stay sassy, drink some water, and try the haggis.
